FileZilla is a free, popular FTP program for Windows, macOS and Linux. Here's how to connect it securely to your HTN Cloud account.
Before you start
- Download FileZilla (the free FileZilla Client) from its official website.
- Have your FTP username and password ready. See How to create an FTP account.
Set up the connection
- In FileZilla, open File → Site Manager and click New site. Name it, for example, "My website".
- Fill in the General tab:
- Protocol: FTP (File Transfer Protocol)
- Host:
ftp.yourdomain.com(oryourdomain.com) - Port:
21 - Encryption: Require explicit FTP over TLS
- Logon Type: Normal
- User: your full FTP username, e.g.
designer@yourdomain.com - Password: your FTP password
- Click Connect.
- The first time, FileZilla shows the server's certificate. Check that the host name is correct, tick Always trust this certificate in future sessions and click OK.
Upload files
- The left side shows your computer and the right side shows your hosting.
- On the right, open the folder your website lives in, for example
public_htmlif you use your main FTP account. - Drag files from left to right to upload, or from right to left to download.
Connection problems
- "Login incorrect": check that the username is the full address with
@yourdomain.comand retype the password. - Can't connect or time-out: try
yourdomain.comas the host. If your DNS provider proxies traffic (for example Cloudflare), use a record that is set to DNS only for FTP. - Directory listing fails: in Site Manager, open the Transfer Settings tab and set Transfer mode to Passive.
- Too many failed login attempts can block your IP address for a while. Wait a little, then try again.
