If your website's content was lost, damaged by a faulty plugin, or you just want to go back to an earlier version, you can restore the database from a backup.
Restore a database
- In cPanel, open Files → JetBackup 5.
- Click Databases under Restore & Download.
- Find the database (for example
username_wp123) and the date you want to restore. - Select it and click Restore, then confirm.
- Follow the progress under Queue. When it's finished, check your website.
The current database is replaced with the backup version. Anything added since then, such as new orders, comments or posts, will be lost. Export the current database first if you might need it. See How to import or export a database with phpMyAdmin.
Which database does my website use?
- WordPress: open
wp-config.phpin File Manager and look forDB_NAME. - Installed with Softaculous: WordPress Manager shows the database under Database Details.
Download instead of restore
Select the backup and click Download to get a copy of the database. You can then import it yourself, for example into a new database for testing. See How to import or export a database with phpMyAdmin.
Restoring a whole website? Also restore its files from the same date. See How to restore files from a backup.
